I've noticed that over the past few months I've been writing quite a bit of stuff... again... so I've decided to finally put it all in one place: all the new stuff, and even all the old ffnet garbage from infinity ago.

This... is that place. )

Wow. That's a lot of... procrastination. I've done a lot more HIMYM stuff than I thought, too.

A lot of people seem to be doing this already, so I thought I would too!

The holidays are approaching (well, okay, they're two months away, but this way I'll have time to get everything together), and I'm offering a Christmas card/letter to anyone who wants one. Included in the card will be a lovely long ramble (because I've gotten very good at writing rambly letters) with possible bad doodles included in the margins, and a drabble, which will be my holiday present to you. =D

(It's annoying how we have to make Christmas all faith-neutral now. The holiday's become commercialized enough as it is. Does calling late December "Christmastime" really offend anyone anymore?)

So what I need from all of you are your addresses (which you can leave in the screened comments or PM to me), what (if any) holiday you celebrate, and drabble prompts. Please include fandom, character/pairing, and a scenario or prompt word for me to go off of. I've been known to dabble in a vast variety of fandoms and do a lot of strange crossovers, and I'm always willing to try writing new ones as long as I'm already familiar with it. Check my tags or profile page if you need some hints as to what I watch/read. And while I'm best at writing things around PG-13, I have been known to go beyond that, if that's what you'd rather have from me. =P

So hit me wit' yo' digits -- er, addresses, and in a few weeks you'll have a lovely present in your mailboxes from Phoenix! =D

Had a good week this week! Not too stressful school-wise, thank goodness, other than a couple registration snafus. Sadly, I didn't get into the WT course I wanted to, but it's totally fine because I found one just as awesome, where we get to analyze the female superhero's role in pop culture. And here's my spring lineup:

- Film Directing
- Contemporary Writers
- (De)Constructing the Other (another lit course)
- Thesis hours!

Best part? None of these classes start before 12:30. So, yes. I'm excited. If somewhat terrified at the thought of having to start tackling my thesis.

I have blogging to do about V and HIMYM and probably other stuff, and I have a meme to do, but I'm putting those off for later. For now, I just had to share this completely awesome Youtube vid I found. It takes clips from Lost and shows the interrelationships between all the characters, AND it's set to the Veronica Mars theme song ("We Used to be Friends" by the Dandy Warhols), AND it's edited really, really well, so it's pretty much the most awesome video ever made by anyone ever.

Happy Friday, y'all!

Comment to this post and receive 4 options (actors/singers/so on, so forth). You must then decide which of the 4 options you would: Shag, Snog, Marry and Throw off a cliff.

[info]snogged gave me Josh Radnor, Nathan Fillion, John Krasinski, and Kevin McHale.

I have yet to do any of my homework from this weekend. I should probably get on that, especially studying for my film midterm. Eep!

So CBS is epically failing at the moment, since last night's episode hasn't been posted yet for me to rewatch (and possibly reform my opinions?). But I'm going to write up about it anyway.

I'm going to do some pushups in the kitchen! )

Back at school after an awesome (and way too short) fall break. I've mainly got reading to do this week, which is great, so long as I do it all. And I plan to. Oh, I plan to.

The HIMYM and TV redux will come later. Probably tomorrow. Because right now I really have to blog about real life stuff. Specifically (because I can say that word, HAH), my fall break and awesometown weekend with LARK!

You're a real person!!! )

Brief school stress before I go: I checked my midterm grades, and while I do have a surprising A in modernism (YAY!!), I have a D in media law. A *D*. That doesn't include my last test, but I don't think I did too well on that. My only hope is to do amazing on my remaining test and last two written assignments (one of which I have due on Thursday), learn how to actually write a legal argument, and to study my oversized ass off for the rest of the semester. If I do that, then I might end up with a B. But I'm obviously not doing enough for this course at the moment, even if I feel like I understand a lot of the material. I just have trouble retaining it, I guess. That, and my writing style is too rhetorical. Whatever that means.

Oh, and I have a C+ in poetry. What the fuck?! Do reading quizzes really count for THAT much of my grade?

(B in film production. About what I expected. And hey, I have the alphabet on my report card at the moment. I am very displeased by this.)

In other news, my MSN hasn't been letting me log on tonight. This makes me sadder than it probably should. Guess I should go to bed so I'm not dead when my family parades past me tomorrow morning at 7 am to say good-bye, since I'm heading back to school after they all leave for work/school.

Why yes, I did just make a portmanteau. Because I'm awesome.

Your delusions of persecution are a telltale sign of the early stages of paranoid schizophrenia. )

I'm still not feeling tip-top. Can't remember if I mentioned this here or not, but I've got some kind of respiratory virus that's making my chest feel really tight and gives me a hacking cough, and every once in a while just makes getting air into my lungs super unpleasant. It was acting up again yesterday, causing me to miss both my classes. I've got an inhaler that I hate using, but I've had to the past couple days. It's lame. I just want to be better already.

But onto better news! As I said, I'm done with midterms now! Huzzah! And! AND!! I'm pretty sure I'm going to have an A in modernism, aka the class that's been stressing me out for the past two weeks. I got back both my journals and midterm paper, and I got an A on both. =D Thank god for my BS skills! If only they did me any good in media law. =(

Heading home tomorrow on break, to spend the weekend with the awesomefantastic Lark! I'm so psyched, I don't even need to listen to Bon Jovi to GET psyched. ^_^

[info]otempora42 had kind of a bad day today, so I promised her I'd post this.

Backstory: my film production class requires us to write reviews of five movies we haven't seen before this semester, a fact I pretty much just remembered this weekend. Anyway, one of the films I chose to watch was Undercover Brother, this really crazy Austin Powers/black power type movie featuring Neil Patrick Harris as the token white guy. Sadly, NPH did not end up in my final review, but I figured Otemps would want to read it anyway, seeing as it's always fun to read something academic about something completely dumb and hilarious.

the title character, for example, dresses in a highly colorful disco getup complete with an enormous Afro... )

Well, that was fun. Plus, now I only have two more movies to watch and review! I am SO getting to sleep tonight! =D

You guys remember that video game Lemmings, with the little green-haired dudes that you had to get into their hole by making them dig holes or build stairs or otherwise not walk blindly off cliffs?

As of right now, I am one of those green-haired dudes, blindly following whoever first posted this meme. Hopefully one of us doesn't get bored and make the rest of us supernova. (Also, hopefully I don't get 10 "Ted Mosby"s.)

ANYWAY. Since my list worked out so well for me last week, I thought I'd make another one for this week, just to help myself keep on track. But I'll be on fall break by Thursday at 4 pm, so yaaaay! And I'll be going home AND meeting [info]darlingchaos on Friday afternoon... EXTREME YAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!! ^_^ ^_^

[x] Write lit midterm -- 4 questions, 1.5 pages each
[x] Watch 1 film (Cold Mountain, Fargo, Truman Show, Undercover Brother)
[x] Write 1 film critique (Psycho, Cold Mountain, Fargo, Truman Show, Undercover Brother) -- due Wednesday, 6 pm!
[x] Study for media law exam
[x] Law exam Thursday!

That's actually a pretty short list. But each item is pretty time-consuming and stressful, especially seeing as most of it has to be done by Wednesday. Anyway, watch this space to see the items on my to-do list disappear. It's an interactive blog entry. *unenthused* Yaaaaaay.

Exciting things, just to end on a positive note: New HIMYM tonight! New Glee Wednesday! And I'm really, really, really, really excited for the weekend!!!!!!! I get to go home AND meet Lark!! Wooooooo!

It's a checklist for my own purposes, detailing everything I need to get done in the next 25 hours. Hey, if I'm going to be on LJ anyway, might as well use it to help myself be productive, right?

[x] journal 1 (what is modernism?)
[x] journal 2 (Portrait 1)
[x] journal 3 (Portrait 2)
[x] journal 4 (Portrait 3)
[x] journal 5 (Lighthouse 1)
[ ] journal 6 (Lighthouse 2) (absent)
[x] journal 7 (Lighthouse 3)
[x] journal 8 (Passage 1)
[ ] journal 9 (Passage 2)
[ ] journal 10 (Passage 3) (absent)
[x] journal 11 (Passage 4)
[x] intro
[x] reflection paper
[x] finish light plots
[x] intermed. poetry class
[x] film production class
[x] Res Life meeting
[x] Glee (Damn me. But hey, I worked through it!)
[x] sleep (4 hours, beyotches!)
[x] media law class
[x] lunch (Kelly?) I have a pudding parfait in my fridge. I'm going to count that as lunch, mkay?

ETA: It is now 2 pm on Thursday. Class is in 20 minutes, and I never got around to BSing my last three journal entries (2 of which I wasn't in class for, anyway). But I did everything else on this list, which I'm pretty damn proud of. So stick THAT in your pipe and smoke it, modernism.

Dayum, I just realized I completely forgot to do one for last week. Um... it was pretty good. Mainly just because of the idea that there are doppelgangers for every character running around, like alternative universe Latino Marshall or Lesbian Robin (or G-CWOK Barney and Ted? Yes? No?) Anyway... I give last week a B.

This week...
They said I had A.D.... something. Can we have class outside?! )

And now excuse me while I scream about school:

So, um, yeah. I'm off to do homework. For the rest of my life. Which will probably only last until the end of the week, at this rate.

I must have royally pissed off some karma gods or something.

Grrrrrrr. Guess that means I actually have to get my homework done tonight, if I can't squee about TV or lurk around LJ, if people are going to SPOIL ME.

This weekend has been supremely unproductive, as per uz. I've at least managed to get some of my homework done tonight, though I'm sure I'll be up for a little while getting the rest of my readings done. Not to mention my poem, poem analyses, and the analytical paper I need to write for my law class. One thing I managed this weekend: going to Steak & Shake for the first time EVER. At 1 AM. Delish!! (I want another milkshake now.)

Anyway, my sleep schedule is kind of screwed up, especially since I was up until 6 am the night before last (thank you, FBHIMYMRPG. Yes, I broke out the full acronym, bitches). My goal before going to sleep: reading and commenting on 5 classmates' poems, at least starting on my own, and reading some Thorpe Moeckel and some of Forster's Passage to India. Why do I always have so much dang HOMEWORK to do?!

One plus about tomorrow: new HIMYM tomorrow night!! (Which reminds me, STILL have not gotten to my rewatch of last week. I think this is a new record!) Plus, new Castle, new Glee, new Office, new Dollhouse, plus Project Runway and Top Chef... God, I love having new TV to watch!!

I'm really happy for you, and I'mma let you finish, but Glee had one of the best music videos of all time!

I'm Kurt Hummel, and I'll be auditioning for the role of kicker. )

Life stuff: I've had kind of a crappy week? I spent the first half editing my first-ever short film (coming soon to a post near you? =P), and the second half (aka last night) cramming for my law exam, which I think I did only okay on. Long story short: not much sleep this week. I've been very cranky and antisocial. Plus, sleep deprivation and overexposure to Mika (is it bad that I've listened to his new album about 7 times all the way through in the past 2 days?) caused me to get impulsive and buy a concert ticket which I can now not refund. It's not that I don't want to go, it's that it probably isn't safe for me to drive to Philly at night and see this concert by myself. It'd be better if I could find someone to go with me, but I don't even know anyone I could ask, or who likes Mika. (But I mean, who wouldn't? He's so happy!)

So, sigh. I feel like I wasted my money on the ticket, so now I'm paranoid about all the money I've spent so far this semester. I seriously need to curb my impulse buying. No more DVDs for me, like, ever. And I'm really hoping I can resell the ticket somehow, because Ticketmaster is supremely unhelpful in helping me get my money back.

((But, I mean, I do want to go. I just retroactively realized it's kind of sketch.))

Sigh. Whatever. I'm going to spend the weekend trying not to stress about this, and to get all my frakking reading done for classes, and to finish watching Dollhouse before the season premiere tomorrow!!!

Let me start this post off by wishing my darling loudmouthed brother Luke a VERY HAPPY 11TH BIRTHDAY!! I hate having to be at school when everyone back home is eating delicious chocolate cake (which my mom described to me over the phone in excruciating detail) and opening presents and stuff.

But the fact that there was new HIMYM tonight certainly made up for that!

5.01 - Definitions )

Oh, and Castle was good tonight too! Man, some day I'll watch the middle of last season. But seeing as Nathan Fillion makes everything better, and Castle is awesome, and I love him and Alexis, and since I love Beckett (who's being completely badass right now, btw), I give it an A-. What? Told you this grading scale was arbitrary!

Oh, and also, I stuck around after HIMYM for that new sitcom, Accidentally on Purpose. It's really... not that good? But it's about babies, and the boy-toy is pretty much the most adorable guy ever, so I'm sure I'll watch every now and then. Damn you, ovaries. Damn you!!

Hmmm. I should probably start studying for my law exam now, seeing as I have a huge exam on Thursday I'm supposed to study 8 hours for if I want to get a C. And I want an *A*, damn it. The grading scale for media law is way less arbitrary than the one I use here!! There is fuzzy math and a holistic rubric involved on this blog. But unlike me, my prof actually pays attention and counts points!! Aaaaaaaaah!
